1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how TapAFix Inc. (“TapAFix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”). This policy applies to both Customers and Workers (Handymen) registered on the Platform.
By downloading the app or using any part of our Platform, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.
2. Definitions
- “Platform” refers to the TapAFix mobile app (iOS and Android), website at tapafix.com, and any related services.
- “Customer” refers to any user who books handyman services through the Platform.
- “Worker” or “Handyman” refers to any skilled professional who registers to offer services through the Platform.
- “Personal Information” means any information that can directly or indirectly identify an individual, as regulated under applicable Canadian privacy laws.
- “You” refers to any Customer, Worker, or visitor using the Platform.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Contact Information: Full name, email address, phone number, and home or service address.
- Account Credentials: Username and password created during registration.
- Identity & Verification Documents (Workers only): Government-issued ID, trade certificates, licenses, and any other documents required for profile verification.
- Billing & Payment Information: Credit/debit card details, billing address, and transaction history. Payments are processed securely through Stripe, PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay.
- Profile Information: Profile photo, service category, location, skills, and availability (Workers).
- Coin & Package Activity: Details of coin purchases, lead unlocks, subscription plans, and package upgrades.
- Booking Information: Service type, date, time, location, job description, and OTP verification records.
3.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Device & Technical Data: IP address, device type, operating system, app version, and browser type.
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect real-time location data to match you with nearby Workers or show Customers the closest available professionals.
- Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, time spent on the app, and interaction patterns to improve Platform performance.
- Cookies & Tracking: Our website uses cookies to recognize returning users and improve browsing experience. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may be affected.
4. How We Collect Booking Information
TapAFix offers three ways for Customers to book services. Each method involves collection of relevant personal and booking data:
4.1 Direct Booking: The Customer browses available services and books a Worker directly. We collect service type, preferred date and time, location, and payment details.
4.2 Broadcast Bidding: The Customer submits a job request that is broadcast to nearby Workers. Workers place bids and the Customer selects one. We collect job description, location, bid details, and the selected Worker’s information.
4.3 Bundle Packages: The Customer purchases a pre-defined service package offered by TapAFix. We collect package selection, payment information, and scheduling details. TapAFix assigns a suitable Worker for the job.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account on the Platform.
- To connect Customers with nearby, verified Workers based on location and service type.
- To process bookings, payments, coin transactions, and subscription plans.
- To send OTP verification codes for account security and job completion confirmation.
- To send booking confirmations, job updates, lead notifications, and promotional offers via push notifications or email.
- To manage the coin system, referral rewards, featured listings, and Worker incentive programs.
- To monitor, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, identity misuse, or policy violations.
- To improve our app features, fix bugs, and enhance overall user experience.
- To comply with applicable Canadian laws and legal obligations.
6. Communication & Chat Policy
All communication between Customers and Workers takes place through the TapAFix in-app chat system. We may collect and store chat data to ensure Platform safety and resolve disputes. TapAFix is not responsible for any agreements or commitments made outside the in-app chat.
7. Pricing & Cost Disclaimer
TapAFix displays per hour charges on the Platform as a general reference only. The final cost of any service is determined after an on-site survey by the Worker. TapAFix is not responsible for the final price agreed upon between the Customer and the Worker.
8. Worker Earnings & Coin System
8.1 Earnings: Workers keep 100% of what they earn directly from Customers. TapAFix does not take any commission from Worker earnings on direct jobs.
8.2 Coin System: Workers purchase coins to access job leads on the Platform. Coins are deducted only after a job is marked as complete and the OTP has been verified by the Worker. No coins are deducted before job completion.
9. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Between Platform Users: Customer names, job locations, and booking details are shared with the assigned Worker to complete the service. Worker profiles, ratings, and reviews are visible to Customers.
- Payment Processors: Billing information is securely shared with Stripe, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay to process transactions.
- Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the Platform under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or government authority.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
10. Dispute Resolution
Both Customers and Workers may raise a dispute through the Platform. TapAFix will review all disputes and take appropriate action. However, since all direct communication and final cost agreements occur outside the Platform, TapAFix’s ability to mediate may be limited to Platform-level activity only.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we are required by law to retain it longer. Booking records, payment transactions, and OTP logs may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and accounting compliance.
12. Your Rights & Choices
As a user in Canada, you have the following rights under PIPEDA:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw your consent to certain uses of your data at any time.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails or push notifications at any time through your account settings.

13. Location Data
TapAFix uses your location to match you with nearby Workers or display available jobs in your area. Location access can be managed through your device settings at any time. Disabling location access may limit certain features of the Platform.
14. Children’s Privacy
The TapAFix Platform is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately.
15. Security
TapAFix uses industry-standard measures including OTP verification and encrypted payment processing to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Platform following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
